Tom Hiddleston as Magnus Martinsson from Wallander
Finally watched Wallander's season 3 (mostly because I had to see the episode they shot in Riga - it's where I come from), but without my curly blond ray of sunshine Magnus this show seems to be even gloomier. Not that I don't like gloomy. But still, no matter how little screentime Magnus had, I still miss him. (I don't complain, though, I'm happy for Hiddles and where his career is taking him to.)
Rant time - My issues with tech never end - my comp is screwing with me and somehow the presets in PS got messed up and all my custom brushes went buh-bye, so yeah, painting process is a bit different now. Plus I've got no slightest idea how to paint curly hair, but I tried, okay?
When I first started painting digitally, I used to use the tracing method but now for portraits like this I simply work very closely to the reference photo, especially in cases when I don't use any sketch or lineart at all. I often start painting with basic colors, without initial sketching. Some say that tracing is a bad way to learn painting properly. I would disagree, though. I think it's a nice way to start and get your hand in digital painting.
